On average, a 3-4 week turnaround is standard for an unframed photograph.
This is because where you order something in a particular specification that we do not have in stock at the gallery, then your order needs to be made specifically for you by the photographer. Rest assured we will get it to you as soon as we can, but turnaround time does vary from photographer to photographer – sometimes it can be faster than average, sometimes a week or so longer.
Framing adds a further 2/3 weeks to the process.
If we do have the photograph you require in stock in the exact specification you have ordered, then we can get it on its way to you straight away. In practice, for an unframed piece held in inventory, we will aim to send it within 3 working days of receiving your payment.
If timing is critical, for example because you are making a purchase for a birthday gift, then please do get in touch with us and we can always advise you on delivery time on a specific item.
How can I pay ?
We accept all the main credit and debit cards, including American Express.
We can send you a PayPal link if you want to pay with a PayPal balance.
If you prefer, you can always wire funds to our bank account – we can provide details.
How do you send photographs ?
We use internationally renowned courier companies to send unframed work to clients in the UK and overseas. Each delivery is fully trackable. UK deliveries are next day, non-UK deliveries typically take up to 4 days.
We take great care with packaging. There is no point in taking any chances with potential damage in transit, so we err on the side of caution. We would rather ‘overpack’ than take any risks. We flat pack smaller items, and for larger sizes, we use extra heavy duty tubes.
What happens if something is damaged in transit?
While we take incredible care with the packaging of orders, once they leave the building, they are in the hands of commercial couriers. While we have never experienced any major problems with damaged packages, we can’t rule it out in the future, simply because it is not under our direct control.
Rest assured that if there is any damage to a product as a result of mishandling in transit, we will send you a replacement. If it is not possible to send you a replacement, we will issue you with a full refund. We may ask you to return damaged goods to us. Where we do that, we will bear the shipping costs.
A) Delivery charges – photographs, prints and other artwork (see later for books)
Delivery charges depend on the product in question, and the destination.
1. Unframed artwork
1.1 For UK customers
There are no delivery charges for sending unframed artwork to UK addresses, whatever the price. We use a ‘signed for’ next-working-day commercial courier for our UK deliveries.
1.2 For customers outside the UK
As a general principle, we don’t ever like to charge for delivery. However, for orders under a certain size, the economics don’t allow us to ship at no cost internationally. To keep it sensible, we have set the threshhold as low as we can, so that we are delivering as much as we can for you for no charge if you are outside the UK.
Here’s how it works: if you are outside the UK mainland and your artwork costs GBP 495 or more, there is no charge for shipping. If we ship outside the UK mainland and your artwork costs below that GBP 495 threshhold, shipping costs are as follows: Europe – GBP 50 ; USA – GBP75; Rest of World – GBP 95.
2 Framed artwork
If we are arranging to frame your artwork, then there is a delivery charge (dependent on size and location) because we have to use a specialist delivery company for framed items and not a regular commercial courier.
2.1 Framed artwork for UK customers
We can advise you on delivery charges once we know the type of frame, size and destination.
2.2 Framed artwork for customers outside the UK
If we are sending regular framed work outside the UK we need to use a specialist art packer/shipper. They are expensive. We can advise you on delivery charges once we know the type of frame, size and destination. We always recommend that if possible unframed and sort framing locally as it will be much more cost effective. 99% of our overseas clients choose to receive unframed work for this very reason.
B) Delivery charges – books
1.1 Limited edition books from Ormond Yard Press
Our publishing arm, Ormond Yard Press, produces ultra-large-format 18×24 inch limited edition books. The packaged weight of a single book is approx 9 kg (20 lbs), and there are shipping charges, depending on destination:
UK mainland: free delivery / Europe – GBP 50 / USA – GBP 75 / Rest of World GBP 95.
We also offer 12×12 inch books where the delivery costs are a little lower:
UK mainland: free delivery / Europe – GBP 30 / USA – GBP 45 / Rest of World GBP 60.
1.2 Other books
From time to time we offer books by other publishers. Where we list these online, the prices will include delivery within the UK mainland.
Sometimes we will only offer third party books online to customers in the UK mainland, so if you see a note or restriction to that effect, please do not order online if you are outside the UK mainland.
C) Aggregating
Bear in mind that if your total order is GBP 495 or more, then we will ship for free worldwide. The individual elements don’t all have to be GBP 495 – just the total – for you to access free shipping.
Can you supply frames ?
Yes – we can supply any photograph unframed or framed.
Please note that the prices shown on the website are, with one or two exceptions, for unframed photographs. (Exceptionally, an artist will supply a piece in a specific type of bespoke frame which they have specially chosen for the artwork, and if this is the case you will see that in the description of the item on the website.)
If you have placed an order for an unframed photograph and would like to discuss framing, get in touch with us and we can take you through the options. If you then decide to use framers local to where you live, that’s no problem, and we can simply supply you with the unframed piece. If you have a specific framing requirement in mind, it is often easier to get it sorted locally – but we are happy to help wherever we can.
We have used the same framers for many years and quality is very high.
Standard black frames
Our standard ‘house’ style is a black frame with a square edge, and an acid free archival window mount, and standard glass. Very large sizes typically require box frames without window mounts. We can also supply work in museum glass, which has anti reflective properties, and enhanced uv filters. Our framers usually turn around orders for standard frames inside 3 weeks.
Delivery of framed pieces
For UK mainland customers, because of the risk of glass breaking in transit, we have to use additional specialist packaging. As a result, if you need us to deliver framed work, there is a delivery charge based on size / location. We simply pass on the delivery company’s charges here – there is no mark-up. For customers outside the UK mainland, we always recommend that we send you an unframed piece, and that you arrange framing locally. This avoids the risk of glass breaking in transit, and also avoids the enhanced shipping costs. These can be significant because a special bespoke shipping case has to be made by a dedicated international art shipper. Often the cost of shipping a framed piece internationally can be as much as the cost of the frame itself, and this is why the vast majority of our non-UK customers prefer to arrange local framing. Of course, if you do want us to send a framed piece overseas, we can of certainly do it.
Get in touch and we will run through any questions you may have on framing, and give you all the price information you need.
