Michael Joseph’s session with The Rolling Stones for their 1968 album Beggars Banquet have always been popular with clients and gallery visitors, particularly at this time of year, when Thanksgiving and Christmas are looming and the feasting can get a little out of control. The banquet session images work brilliantly in dining rooms for obvious reasons.
The photograph alongside is the one Michael refers to as "The Banquet" – a finely detailed colour photograph from the session, and Michael’s personal favourite. The detail on this piece is exquisite – on Michael’s large format limited editions you can see the texture on the gills of the mushrooms on the table, and read clearly the label on the bottle of Beaujolais.
