Jim Marchese: Bruce Springsteen’s tour for The River, 1981

It’s always a treat to offer important Bruce Springsteen photographs to our clients, and Jim Marchese’s body of work from his time with Bruce in 1981 is a key addition to our roster. 

You can picture the scene. Jim is relaxing at home when the phone rings. Bruce Springsteen’s road manager is on the line. He asks if Jim can get on a plane the next day to Europe, telling him, “You’re the only photographer I know who can keep up with Bruce.” So began Jim Marchese’s time on the European leg of The River tour.
