John d Green photographed Annabella Macartney for Birds of Britain on 11 May 1966 at his Kensington studio.
She was 23 at the time and a well known model and face on the scene – described by Anthony Haden-Guest in Birds of Britain as “a Diana of the discotheques, through which she whirls with the supercharged efficiency of a customised machine.”
Three years earlier she had a minor roll in Carry on Cabby as one of the Glamcab drivers, but that appears to have been her only screen role.
This beautiful full length photograph of Annabella in matador costume was not included in Birds of Britain, and is being published for the first time in The Big Book of Birds of Britain, and is included in the gallery exhibition.
