Herb Greene: Immortality at reasonable rates
Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin and more.
When Herb Greene set up his studio in San Francisco in the mid-sixties, he offered his sitters “immortality at reasonable rates.”
Those four words struck me immediately—what a perfectly judged and concise catchphrase. I wish I had thought of it. Back then, Herb would have had no way of knowing that just over fifty years later, his acclaimed photographs of Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin and many others would already have achieved immortal status in the rock and roll canon.
It’s a pleasure and a privilege for me to be able to offer Herb’s work to you. The link below will take you to Herb’s collection, where you can read about him, and view/purchase Herb’s photographs in a range of physical size options. We have also set up a virtual viewing room featuring a selection of our favourites from Herb’s archives to give you a sense of how they would look framed and hanging on your wall.
I hope you enjoy Herb’s images and that we can tempt you with a little slice of life amongst the immortals.
