Keith with Telecaster
The key piece from Dominique Tarle’s archives
It’s the Summer of 1971. The location is Villa Nellcote, a sixteen-room mansion at Villefranche-sur-Mer, a port on France’s Côte d’Azur.
This is where the Rolling Stones recorded Exile on Main Street. Keith Richards sits on the parquet floor, cradling his Fender Telecaster, the soles of his feet covered in dirt. The grime and the grandeur went hand in hand where the Stones were concerned. Keith had more important things to consider than keeping his feet clean—like Exile.
To the left, a reclining Anita Pallenberg—the only one acknowledging the camera—dazzles in a pair of high heels. Gram Parsons sits to the right, while his girlfriend Gretchen Burrell observes the scene. And there—reflected in the mirror—is the man behind the lens, Dominique Tarle.
Keith with Telecaster is Dominique Tarle’s most sough after photograph. Offered as a limited edition in a range of sizes, it has been unavailable for many years. Happily, we do have availability at the time of writing, but remaining supplies are extremely limited.
