The exhibition Play It loud: Instruments of Rock and Roll is running at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York until 1 October 2019. It looks incredible.
Bruce Springsteen’s guitar is there, in a recessed display unit, next to a ghostly image from Eric Meola’s 1975 Born To Run shoot. You can see an installation shot taken by Caryn Rose if you scroll down. This is the image that appears on the cover of Bruce’s 1995 Greatest Hits album. It originally appeared on a 1975 poster promoting both the Born To Run album and Bruce’s concerts at the Roxy in LA in October 1975. The poster is also on display in the Met exhibition.
Eric Meola’s classic image of Bruce with his back to camera, sneakers dangling from his guitar head, is available to purchase as a signed, limited edition photograph.
You can view a series of images from Eric’s 1975 session with Bruce and Clarence for the Born To Run album cover, along with later sessions around the time of Darkness on the Edge of Town via the link below. Signed limited editions are available to purchase.
