ICON: The photography of Andy Earl
Episode three of ICON, the new six part documentary on music photography, airs tonight on Sky Arts.
Titled ‘On the Record’, this episode looks at the evolution of record sleeve photography, and features interviews with art directors, musicians and, of course, those music photographers responsible for some of the world’s most iconic album covers. It is available on Freeview in the UK. It is perfect lockdown viewing – check it out.
Acclaimed British photographer Andy Earl was interviewed extensively for the series and on tonight’s episode he discusses his album sleeve shoots with Johnny Cash and Pink Floyd.
Andy wanted to do something special for our clients in conjunction with tonight’s episode of ICON, and he has selected six photographs from some of his most famous sessions—Johnny Cash, Pink Floyd, Prince, Morrissey, Duran Duran and Bow Wow Wow—to offer for a limited time in a small 8 x 10 inch size at a special price. Scroll down to the bottom of this page and you will see them.
There are two ways to access these. The first way is to get one completely free. Here’s how: if you make a purchase of any of Andy’s regular size photographs (which you can view through the green button below) we will send you an 8 x 10 inch limited edition photograph of your choice at no extra cost. The second option is to make a separate purchase of one or more of the small format limited editions photographs. Prices start at £175 for a signed and numbered limited edition.
Andy Earl’s panoramics
Some of our favourite images in Andy’s portfolio are taken on wide-format panoramic film. These work particularly well in room settings above a piece of furniture, as you can see from the installation shot of Morrissey. Take a look at Andy’s panoramic collection here.
