The Jam – new signed limited edition photographs from Martyn Goddard
This month we publish Jam Sessions — Photographs by Martyn Goddard, the latest book from our imprint Ormond Yard Press. Deliveries of the book are already underway all around the world, and we will continue shipping next week. The feedback has been fantastic so far, so thank you to everyone who has ordered one. Copies are still available at the time of writing if you haven’t bought one yet.
Alongside the publication of the book, we can now reveal that Martyn has selected a number of photographs to offer as signed limited editions, in a choice of physical sizes. Many of these photographs were uncovered by Martyn during a comprehensive review of his archives during the Covid-19 lockdown, and have not been available to purchase before now.
For my money, the “All Around the World” session was one of the most important early shoots, as this was the first time Martyn captured on film the three key defining elements of the Jam’s early look: the suits, matching shoes and the classic logo sprayed freehand by Bill Smith. And of course that hair by Schumi. Martyn’s discovery of the negatives from this shoot during lockdown makes these limited editions possible for the first time.
Other highlights include photographs from the “David Watts” session, long thought lost, showing the band members clearly enjoying each others company. We also present a collection of eleven of Martyn’s images from the Sound Affects LP cover, in their original uncropped format. These are fascinating slices of life in Britain at the dawn of the 1980s.
