Shot by Duffy in 1965 for John Lennon’s book John Lennon: an anthology of Lennon’s poetry. This photograph appeared on the rear cover and the book was designed by Alan Aldridge who nicknamed himself ‘The man with the Kaleidoscope Eyes’ from the Beatles song ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’. John frequently stopped by to see Duffy at home and once asked ‘Can I bring my mate Ringo in..?’

This mini contact sheet of nine individual frames consists of images taken by Duffy in 1965 after the Beatles had returned to the UK from playing at the Shea Stadium, New York. Lennon had picked up the box in a New York novelty store which had been sold to him as a ‘UFO detector.’ It had lights that went on and off intermittently and he brought it to Duffy’s studio for the amusement of the studio team.
